Get Ready for Accreditation!

AccrediGuage ToolGauge Your Readiness for AAALAC Accreditation with AccrediGauge

Getting ready for accreditation?

AAALAC is pleased to introduce AccrediGauge, a new self-assessment tool designed to help programs determine how well they are prepared for AAALAC accreditation. Available to all animal care and use programs, AccrediGauge provides valuable insight into program readiness before engaging in the accreditation process.

Built around the requirements outlined in the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (Guide), AccrediGauge walks users through the essential elements of an animal care and use program. The assessment helps programs identify areas of strength, recognize opportunities for improvement, and better understand the foundational expectations for accreditation.

AccrediGauge is not an evaluation or a pass/fail assessment. Instead, it is intended to help programs make an informed decision about when they are ready to move forward with AAALAC accreditation. Programs should use this tool along with a review of all applicable AAALAC standards found on the AAALAC website.

Already accredited? Programs that are already accredited may find this tool valuable in assessing their application of Guide requirements as they prepare for an upcoming Site Visit.

AAALAC strongly encourages all first-time applicants to complete the Gauge Your Readiness assessment before submitting an application. By taking advantage of this new resource, programs can better prepare for the accreditation process and address potential gaps before beginning their accreditation journey.

AccrediGuage is hosted by the AALAS Academy platform.
